The dance comes from a region in Oaxaca called Papaloapan. The huipil (dress) is hand embroidered and it can come with a design like the one on the print or with a big and vibrant colour flowers. The ladies have long braids with colourful ribbon and they are carrying a Pinapple (Piña). Before the dance starts, a poem is recited where the story of the costumes is being told. Usually they don't wear shoes.
