"Short Stories from Mexico" contains two stories from Mexican legend and folklore which have been written in UK English and Spanish and contains the wonderful illustrations from Rosa Brown. These stories give an interesting insight into Mexican culture and folklore. 

This book should be a very good text for language students of English and Spanish to improve their reading skills. 

"La Llorona" (The Weeping Lady) tells the tale of a young lady who has two children by the love of her life with the on going hope of marriage. A wedding between the two does not materialise with tragic consequences for all concerned.

"The Elegant Lady" is a folklore tale from northern Mexico about a lady who has not kept a solemn promise during her lifetime in return for the life of her gravely ill son. She therefore seeks to make amends in the next life.
